Some seedlings at 10º 18' P.m with Cots. not in the least asleep.—
Larger cots now in length of lamina along midrib .75 inch; in breadth of lamina 1.05 inch, at right angles to line of midrib (Cots very broad)
Dec. 26' 10º 15' P.m Cots Horizontal.
Largest cot. Lamina in length 1.05 along midrib

Jan 6th. 1880 11º P.m not asleep— Little leaf & plumule together 1/2 inch long— Biggest Cot. 1.45 long on midrib & 2.4 inch in breadth
This species does not sleep— see about true leaves.
Jan 27' 10º 40' P.m. Biggest 2.5 in breath — true leaf with petioles 2.0 inch long! — no sign of Sleep just as horizontal as at noon.─
