1 Canterbury Dwf —(Flower snow white)
2 Negro — cream-coloured Not yet in flower Sept 4 now in flower dark purple only small, hardly above half of Canterbury
3 Prolific Dwf. (Fl. Snow White Fl)
4 Shillings New Grotto, very pale purple, rather larger than 1 to 3 Flowers
5 Cream Dw'
6 Dun Kidney} tallest plant flower like 4.
7 China Kidney flower like 4.—
8 Newington Wonder rather darker purple rather smaller than 4 to 7.—
9 Black Prolific (not in flower) purple like in 2. but larger, but not so large as no 1
10 Mohawk
11 Early frame} done flowering. These flowers were not remarkable white smallish flower
12 Magpie Purple like 8, but larger flower, as large as any viz 4-7—
13 Purple Speckled,— very pale purple, like in all respect 4-7
(12 & 13 tall & large Plants)
Hence in flowers, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 13 all alike
1 & 2 3, 11 alike. & probably 10.—
4 & 13 alike in colour but different in size
Kidney Beans Dwarf
Canterbury, Prolific, Dun Kidney, Newington wonder rather earlier than others
June 18th. (This has extremely mottled Pods.) Magpie Kidney has rather broader leaves & rather different tint than others.
June 29th.— Young plants about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 high. Canterbury, Negro & Prolific Newing Newington Wonder do July 7th have now smaller rather narrower, rather greener leaves: Magpie rather broader & darker green
July 7th I do not see any difference in Magpie
July 20' I can see no difference in flowers of any Kinds. (N.B there must have been early Kinds.
July 23d Flower of Magpie pale purple. Shillings Grotto, Cream Dwf & Dun Kidney B. throw out great runners.
July 25th— /1855/ Pods of Kidney Beans.— in Colour the Magpie K curiously marked with purplish brown & "Newington Wonder" in same Manner —
In shape & size, the Newington wonder is small straight narrow & cylindrical.
Early Frame curved rather narrow & very long.— The Prolific Dwf Kidney show shape of Bean, is small & narrow.
Negro & Canterbury also small.—
In form & size 3 groups viz Negro, Canterbury & Prolific —viz Number in list 1, 2, 3
(2) Newington wonder slightly different — , 8,
(3) Early Frame— 11,
(4) all the others. broad, & large 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13
