When two species are crossed, one has oft sometimes a prepotent power in impressing its likeness on the cr hybrid offspring; & so I believe it to be with varieties of plants, as it certainly is with varieties of animals, for one variety often has a prepotent power over another in impressing its likeness on their mongrel offspring.
