THE DESCENT OF MAN.— From the same publishes we have received the first volume of "The Descent of Man," by Charles Darwin. As the title indicates this is a work of scientific research and metaphysical speculation combined. Those who are anxious to know where humanity came from and what it is likely to become will find here food enough for reflection and speculation, although they may never be able to answer either problem to their own satisfaction.
