Mr. DARWIN has just published in England the sixth edition (eleventh thousand) of his "Origin of Species." Although reduced in bulk, from the use of a smaller size of type, there is in this edition a considerable amount of new matter, the chief part of which is a reply to the various objections to the theory of natural selection raised by MR MIVART in his "Genesis of Species."

Mr. DARWIN makes considerable use of the observations of MALM to account for the curious want of symmetry in the arrangement of the eyes in the pleuronectidæ, or flat-fish.
