I may confirm published statements which do not require confirmation by stating (1) I have found Slaves F. nigra in 8 nests— never foraging but defending nest & carrying away pupæ—

(2) I have seen migration with slaves carried by F. sang. unhurt—

(3) I have seen F. sanguinea prefer pupæ of F. nigra to F.    when placed for them.

(4) I have seen an unsuccessful

(5) & locomotion of successful forage with dead slave & pupæ carried away.—
