Foreword by Sir Charles Fleming; maps and bio-bibliographical essay by Roger G. Chapman. Limited to 750 copies; quarter leather, some early copies in threequarter leather; printed and bound in Japan. The only points that are not as the original are that Plate I in Fossil zoology is a folding one half the size of the original; this is stated in the publisher's note to vol. I and on the plate itself; also each colour plate has a blank leaf of thick paper usually after, sometimes before it; these leaves are not present in the original; they are not guard leaves. The prepublication handout suggests that the original "appears unlikely to have exceeded one hundred copies". |
