Description: 1 brass sextant, made by Newman of 122 Regent Street, in inscribed round brass casing: c.4cm (H) x c.7cm (dia). Inscription on brass casing reads "Charles Darwin's sextant. Taken on the voyage of H.M.S. Beagle and given by him in 1868 to his son Leonard Darwin, who presented it to the R.G.S. in 1912".
