STRANGERS' FRIEND SOCIETY, under the patronage of Her Majesty the QUEEN DOWAGER, instituted in the year 1785, for visiting and relieving the sick and distressed poor at their own habitations in London and its vicinity.

The funds of this Society are now quite inadequate to the numerous demands presented to the notice of the Committee, who entertain a confident hope that an institution of such transcendant excellence, and of more than 54 years' standing, will not be suffered to languish for want of means to continue its valuable operations. Upwards of 700 cases, now on the books, are visited and relieved by its agency, all gratuitous; and the Committee, at the commencement of the present inclement season, appeal to the charitable and humane for additional aid to enable them to carry out and extend such benevolent designs towards the afflicted poor.

The following subscriptions and donations, received since their last advertisement, together with a few smaller sums, which will appear in the annual report, are thankfully acknowledged:—
