NATIONAL EDUCATION LEAGUE.—A meeting of the officers of this League was held in Birmingham yesterday, at which it was announced that the total amount of subscriptions promised up to this time is 20,915l. It is proposed to raise 50,000l, payable by instalments spreading over 10 years. The most recent adhesions to the League include Mr. Vernon Harcourt, M.P., Professor Max Muller, Professor Charles Darwin, Mr. Baxter Langley, Alderman Challis, Dr. Antonio Brady, &c. The branches most recently formed are at Plymouth, Dudley, Blackburn, Worcester, Ipswich, and Middlesbrough. Branches are in course of formation at Glasgow, Belfast, Derby, Rugby, Brighton, and Wolverhampton. Mr. Hugh Mason, of Ashton-under-Lyne, has sent a subscription of 500l.
