Narrative of the Voyages of the H.M.S. Adventure and Beagle.—

These volumes (just published) detail the various incidents which occurred during the examination of the southern shores of South America, and the Beagle's circumnavigation of the globe, and add considerably to our knowledge of hydrography, geography, and natural history, and of the habits, &c. of the aborigines. There will be found in them the materials of three distinct works, embracing every thing worthy of notice by all engaged in the expeditions during a period of nearly ten years. The first volume, by Capt. King relates to the expedition under his command, with an appendix, by Major Sabine. The second volume is by Capt. Fitzroy, and relates to the second voyage. The third volume, by Charles Darwin, Esq., is an account of his discoveries in natural history, with novel ideas respecting geology, the Coral Islands, &c. The work is beautifully illustrated with numerous etchings and engravings on steel, by Mr Landseer and other eminent artists, with charts and plans, &c. A more truly important and interesting work than this is has rarely been our lot to notice.
