JOURNAL OF RESEARCHES INTO THE NATURAL HISTORY AND GEOLOGY OF THE COUNTRIES VISITED DURING THE VOYAGE OF THE N.M.S. BEAGLE ROUND THE WORLD. By Charles Darwin, M.A. F.R.S. In two volumes. Harper & Brothers.

We have here, in two small, portable and good-looking volumes, the results of a grand scientific expedition, fitted out by the British government, the labors of which were continued for several years. The discoveries and observations which were then made are here presented, divested of all technicalities, in a popular and universally intelligible form, and interwoven with a narrative of person adventure. The book is thus not only one of the most valuable, but one of the most interesting and attractive works of the kind. It forms part of the Harpers' "New Miscellany," and is sold for fifty cents.
