Dear Mrs Darwin,
As I find yoru son is asking for any letters written by Mr Drwin, as possibly useful in the Biography he is about to write, I send you these to be looked at.
The first relates to some stones I sent from Brazil.
The second treats of a question I asked your late husband, for
[5v]
Captain Burton, relating to entozoa among dogs in Iceland. It also refers to that very pleasant Entertaining lunch we afterwards endjoyed in Devonshire Street (I think) when I had the pleasure of introducing Captain Burton.
The thirs (which I should have made the second?) contains an interesting paragraph as to state of health. — 1871 — illustrating the great feature of Mr Darwin's singularly steady & tenacious mind —that through long years of suffering he could still go on, & go on, doing so much!
On the chance of either of these letters being of direct or indirect assistance I send them for your son's consideration, accompanying
[5b]
them with my best wishes for you & all your family, and with my kind regards &c &c of old.
I am Dear Mrs Darwin
Faithfully yours
J. J. Aubertin
