Dear Mr Darwin
I send you such your father's letters as I can find (numbered 1 to 8). — & I shall be very glad that you should have copies made of them. I value them so much that I shall feel obliged if you will return me the originals when you have done with them. I have no copies of these of my own he refers to. If you find such, & you will send them I will have them copied & will return them. —

in "Surgery" which I gave before the Brit. Med. Assoc in 1866 to a part of which your father refers very kindly in the first of the 8 letters. I refer you to a not of Haeckel this autumn which interested me — the more as he reverts in on part of it to a visit to your father at Down about the same year & to the prevalent views in England abt that time regarding your fathers then recent publications — I think with pleasure that I was among those who at an early period said
