The Zoological Society of London.—At a monthly general meeting, held yesterday at the society's house in Hanover-square, the Right Hon. Sir George Clerk, vice-president in the chair, Messrs. L. M. D. Spence and A. C. Blackstone were elected fellow, and M. Parfait O. des Murs, of Paris, a corresponding member of this society; and the Earl of Sefton and Messrs. J. H, Hayn, J. N. Shoolbred, G. Bend, H. Rutter, A. Gagniêre, and R.  Drummond were proposed as candidates for the fellowship. The report stated that the number of visitors to the gardens had already amounted to 24,997, and afforded a favourable increase as compared with the same period of last year. The donations during the last month included a fine jaguar and other animals, presented by his Excellency: W. D. Christie. Her Majesty's Minister Plenipotentiary in the Argentine Republic; a large fruit-eating bat, captured at sea at a distance of 100 miles from the coast of West Africa, presented by Mr. A. Swanzy, and some interesting marine animals from Bombay, presented by lady Cust.
