(I have given these debacles,
if anyone had been asked how the mechanism of Catasetum could possibly have been acquired by slow gradation, he could have made no answer had mormodes been unknown or become extinct.
Now we can answer with some probability of truth, that as the column of an ancient form, allied to mormodes gradually became erect & took
