Impatiens noli-me-tangere 1867

A few (perfect) flowers were crossed with pollen from distinct plant & produced only 2, 1, & 2 seed.

Several perfect flowers were allowed spont. to fertilise themselves, & 11 of them yielded average of 3.45 seed with a max. of 6. Stigma probably reaches pollen at successive periods, & own pollen was brushed off in case of the crossed flowers.—
