July 12th / 41/ Shrewsbury Linum flavum – An old plant has in all flowers stigma rather smaller, & whole pistil much shorter, these flower of ones of 2 year old cutting which has (normally) pistils standing above anthers in all its flowers. Stamens in both (both dried) about equal anthers, I think rather less in 1 or abnormal one. [Sir J. Snell] says in Linum length of Stamens vary. – (in another cutting pistil abortive)

Under microscope no difference in stigma except size.
