Notes by Sir. B. J. Sulivan on the foregoing letters
No. 2 p.
I think this must have been Dec. 20. 1870. as Musters returned in that year, but the date of your passing for N. Sciences will fix it.
I suppose you have Musters book. He gives as a reason for his journey the delight he felt in reading Darwin's book and FitzRoys of Beagles voyages. B.J.S
It also refers to my son being sent to Africa which was in 1870
No 10. p.
This was I think in 1881, as it alludes to the information I sent him from Bridges of the Fuegian language.
Perhaps you will find that letter but if not and you care to have the particulars of this language that interested him I could send it to you.
B.J.S. June 8. 1882.
No. 12 p. 13
I was with him after Beagle returned when he read his paper on Coral Islands which was accepted at once as settling that much disputed question: Lyell who was in the chair rose and strongly supported and praised it, and gave up all views he had held on the subject before.
