Hop.— Aug 13 — 63.

Plant 11 inches high — 2 lower internodes did not move; but 3 upper ones (a minute one on summit herein included) did, measuring in length 7 inches, all moved with watch do one circle in closely about 2°; & a second circle in about 1°. 45'.—

Aug. 14th To day 1' circle in 2°. 20'

5 — 2. 4' (but a little delayed by touching glass.

Would make 11 or 12 revolutions in the 24°. — 1

This Aug 25. Shoot now grown 2 ft. high, a shoot & young upper internode made circle in 2°. 46'— It made semicircle to light in 1°. 13; — from light in 1°. 33°; so that light aided journey by 20'.

It is certain that disturbance & hardy shoot stops movement for some time.

Wd. not crawl up on windy day. —

An The penultimate internode which had never touched anything had its striæ twisting 1 1/2 turns round.

So rule applies to left & right hand twiner
