The volumes CUL-DAR157.1-2 contain notes, abstracts etc. for Darwin's long paper and later book Climbing plants (1865). It was also commercially available as a softbound offprint, F834, F834a. See R. B. Freeman's bibliographical introduction. Items CUL-DAR157.1.11-60 were in a folder marked "Twiners". Items CUL-DAR157.1.61-112 were in a folder marked "Leaf-climbers" and items CUL-DAR157.1.114-147 were in a folder marked "Tendrils".

Moves with sun. — In warm room in House.
1' circle about 9º. 10'
The semicircle from light far slower than to light
2d circle about 12º. 20', shoot very young lower shoot ceasing to move.
3d circle do. in 7º 30'
The tip of shoot was hooked, & got soon straight, but never became hooked so due to growth — The black marks on internode which were put on convex side became lateral.
Ap. 20 a circle in exactly 8º. The semi-circle from the light took 5º 23' & to the light 2º 37'
