Clematis Sieboldii — April 1864.
Leaves with long & sensitive peduncle, bearing 2 lateral & terminal peduncle, which latter is sensitive to 5 10 inches of string (.82 gr)
Revolves., & is slowly sensitive to 5 inches of strong (.82 gr) & not to 10 inches of thread. The loop merely touched under side of terminal peduncle & caused it to bend & afterwards it became straight.
5 inches of string acted on main peduncle of leaf.—
& so did 10 inches of thread (.25) & so did, but it took 2 or 3 whole days. 5 inches of thread =.125 gr. —
Clematis montana, sometimes one or two turns in one direction & then in another; leaves forming joints

Rhodichiton volubili leaf-stalks either take full turn or half turn & then bend up in odd manner. —
Cl. Sieboldii in greenhouse — against sun.
