Aug 25— Twisting of Twiners—
A hank of worsted with one black thread & turned spirally round stick, like a convolvulus, (which had red line in alternating in spires facing the stick & facing outside) had to be turned round in same line with act of winding, & so there was no twisting of sa hanks (ie back) but there was twisting of axis.
I feel sure axis must turn round unless plant twists itself, of which I see no appearance.—
Aug. 26' In Hop. I could perceive no sign of rotation of axis, independent of its own growth, in stem with red line which had twisted round stick.—

Red line was painted on
Hop
Mikania
Ceropegia
Convolvulus
