Trop. Canariense April 15 /64/
Rubbed hard with pencil some youngest leaves one moved perceptibly in 10' & much hooked in 19'
Two other leaves were bowed in about 20'
One became straight again 5° 40'— another in rather above 6° — say 6°. 30'— (6° to 8° [illeg])
Another older leaf did not become straight till until 8° had elapsed
Leaf of very young plant not sensitive
(April 16th I now find 2 or 3 very slight rubs with thinnest twig does cause flexure.)
April 26' 10 inches of string (1.64) acted, bit several p 5 inch pieces (.82 gr) left for 24° hanging, in only one case produced slight effect.—
