Boreau, Alexandre. 1840. Flore du centre de la France; ou description des plantes qui croissent spontanément dans la région centrale de la France, et de celles qui y sont cultivées en grand, avec l'analyse des genres et des espèces. 2 vols. in 1. Paris: Roret.

[204b]

Boreau Centre du France (1840) (167 species omitted)

[data not transcribed]

[204bv]

In the genera having 5 species & upwards 109 out of 679 species present vars = 160 in a thousand

--- having 3 species or less 66 out of 625 ― = 105 in a thousand

omit / (having 4 species 14 out 116 --- = 120 in a thousand

(having 4 & less ― 80 ― 741 ― = (nearly) 108 in a thousand)

Now if we consider the number of Varieties themselves

in the large genera with 5 & upwards then 153/679 = 225/1000

in the small genera with 3, 2, 1 species then 100/625 = 160/1000

Again in the large genera the proportion of varieties to the varying species in

vars 153 : species having them 109 :: small genera 100 : X = 71.2. But the real number is 66 : hence

[calculations not transcribed] = proportion vars 92.5; but the real number is 100, therefore the small genera, which have species varying present rather too many varieties.
