"I was witness to a vast cloud of ashes, being carried by the winds, & darkening the whole sky." — "It passed the river Plata, & scattered its contents on both sides of the river in so that much that the grass was covered with ashes." — was caused by eruption of volcano near Mendoza. — Being near C. St. Anthony about 1746. —
