After saying laughter as one of distinctive marks add (Feb 15 1867) that I have seen the Chimpanzee laugh when tickled by Keeper laugh as distinctly as any child — with same expression, but the laughter was almost silent,— like what may be called extreme silent noiseless laughter in man.— (Expression)
