Oct. 13- 1861. Etty has kitten between 2 & 3 months old, when given one particular shawl very soft & fleecy, always seizes a bit in its mouth & sucks & purrs & pound — This shows conclusively that the pounding of cats in the sucking action carried on.
It was a very curious sight — Etty says dog Dicky licks the air, apparently to shoe pleasure, when back was scratched.—
