Dec 17. 71/ Even One of the eared seals, Otaria pusilla, retracts ears, when savage, as I saw.

The Hippopotamus, when fighting with another open mouth very widely & strikes with tusks, & they draw back their small ears closely like a Horse.—

Even one of the E. S. (b.b) which has very small ear, yet larger than those of its comperes, draw them back when savage & making a run at legs of its Keeper.
