A snake ranked by Linn. as Crotalus mutus, now made into distinct genus, Lachesis, has a large lancet-formed point or scale, which had form commencement of rattle —
Echis? carinata or arenocola is a ground snake & the peculiar, oblique, notched scales or flanks (which I saw) cannot be accounted
