Mr Alex Dean, thou formerly thought the whole case nonsense, but corrected by experience — Mr Fenn gave him 12 tubers Aug 1870 produce of graft-hybrids made worked in 1869 — ie third year of trial Foliage affected

(3)— shows especially that precocity, hardness & foliage of the graft affected.

He did not make grafts himself, but cultivated the 3d year products of Fenn's graft hybrids & grew the pure kinds alongside for comparison.—
