March 15/68/ One gets little good from pictures, generally muscles of face not much contracted ─ partly perhaps on account of beauty ─ a picture is made intelligible by attitude & accessory ─ as I judge from photographs from W. inspecting pictures & gangway & he f. but few with muscles contracted & stage not distinct & well defined ─ all shows that expression not a vy important as one thought, perhaps exaggerated ─
