A man smiles to show pleasure

at meeting acquaintance ─

then laugh to show surprise & scorn

Pleasure with some surprise & no deeper emotion no one wd laugh if he heard that a big fortune begot. ─ A dog has joy ─ bark, but he does not utter this when he wins game or food
