Linn. Trans XV P. 1 p. 372 R L. Guilding on Nat Hist of Oiketicus, a Lepidopt where female has no wings, no antenna hardly any mouth. "simplicissimum" – mere rudiments of feet, no claws – never leaves its pupa-case. The male has long penis to impregnate her in her case. "It is well known that the females of several Lepidopt insects are nearly apterous, but I believe all at present described possesses the rudiments of wings & antennæ, with perfect feet." Case of gradation in abortion. (10)
