Zoolog. Gardens July 19th 1842

In Sutherlandia frutescens the wing-petals are abortive, just as the standard is in the Erythrina Loudons Encyclop of Plants p. 598 says in Erythrina alœ are in some cases almost obliterated in Amorpha alœ & carina absent. In trifolium they cohere.

In Asphodelus luteus [sketch]

(1) represents base of upper stamens, as it stands on stem, is also 3/4 of length of 3 & 5, which are the longest: 2 & 6 are very short about one third of length of longest, otherwise perfect & all shedding pollen anther proportionally smaller: 3 & 5 the longest: 4 about half as long as longest.
