"'Acts of Swedish Academy' i.e. K Swenska Wetenskaps Academiens Handlingar. At Maer, the house of Darwin's uncle, Josiah Wedgwood, Darwin read an English version of this journal. In the Cambridge MSS. Darwin Scientific Papers, item 119, a notebook labelled 'Books Read', Darwin wrote: 'Maer (June 10 to Nov. 14, 1840). . . Swedish Philosoph. Acts vol. 1 to 7. M.S. translat. from 1740, 2d vol 1741, 3d 1742 & 50 on. Erasmus Darwin also cited 'Swedish Acts', e.g. in the Loves of the Plants, 2nd. ed., London, 1790, p. 149, note. The articles Darwin read were also published in German translation in Abhandlungen aus der Naturlehre, Haushaltungskunst nd Mechanik.'' Stauffer, Natural selection, p. 591.

Plants which grew on roof of old Church Wheat — sowthistles, cheladonium, rumex — marrubium, nepeta, carduus nutans

The three last strong-scented plants were less so — several had colours of leaves altered — & C. nutans differed also in form from kindred on low ground. — In How many generations have these changes been produced in??
