Hookers Misc. 3/127. Mr Farquharson says in Aberdeensh[ire] Quercus sesiliflora [sessiflora] high up on a mountain tho' small seldom lose their extreme shoots by frost. In which they greatly differ from the planted trees of Quercus roba. Roba very rarely flowers here & does not attain large size. Its limit here appears to be about 400 ft above sea, which dwarfed Sessiflora rises up to 750 ft above sea.
