Sp. p. 448 Naturalists describe 3 varieties of [text excised] the common Fox, the greyhound Fox, mastiff Fox & one fox.— "There are certainly seen tall gaunt foxes, other lower and stouter & others still smaller; but he thinks not fixed herds varieties, but effects of situation; as the woodland here is thicker than those which inhabit upland & champagne countries.
