Linn: Trans: V. 5 P. 232. Persoon describes mentions variety of the common beech found in Bohemia with lacinated leaves & describes another found wild remarkable for its extraordinary large leaves & fruit & another single tree near Gottingen still more remarkable the bark & manner in which branches grow precisely resemble an Oak. The country people consider it a cross with an Oak! — Persoon mentions a variety with streaked leaves.—
