Linn. Trans Vol XV. P. 1. p. 9. The eggs of the crow are subject to vary vary (Mr. Sheppard & Whitear Catalogue of the Norfolk & Suffolk birds) both in shape & colour.

Has two from same nest differing, one pale green & with very small spots & the other almost entirely covered with large dusky spots.— The eggs of rooks vary in colour in same way —(He has seen two cases of Rooks with upper mandible an inch longer than under one.) cop[ied] (Q)

p. 14 Eggs of red-backed shrike, like those of many other birds are subject to same variation; apparently in colour.—

p. 53. Larus ridibundus eggs vary so much in size, shape & colour, that a person, not well acquainted with them wd suppose some of them belonged to a different species.
