Babington remarked on specimens of Saxifraga a table, that if they had come from different countries, instead of all from Ireland he shd have considered then species.— now he considers them varieties. (3)

Forbes states that differences of botanists on what is species & variety can only be settled by each writer giving estimate of his value to each character (N.B he must give value of each character in each class) Thompson 2 forms of Linaria in Ireland not found in England— ↘
