(5) J. Wood says that common Periwinkle, varies in the crag in an extraordinary manner & more than he has ever observed in the living species. Though these do vary.

Falconer says the short-down-directed-tusk elephant, which Elephant is very plucky is more dumpy & shorter in all proportions than common one — also inhabits own district.— Anas Boschas inhabits— India & is migratory Duck & goose both breed freely in domestication

Andrew Smith gave some odd & inexplicable cases of confined ranges in a Rodent with rocks & peculiar plant seeds in neighboring localities—

Explain all such parts by a food-created Instinct — The alternation of the migrating? Buffalo of N. America more remarkable, as migrating animals at Cape do never alter ranges
