I saw a black-bird on her nest, which although in a wood was built actually on the ground at the foot of a small tree; the sides of the nest seemed rather thinner than usual.— (over)
W. Fox, confirms fact that golden-wren builds either under or on a branch.—

This nest was was formed of much less natural — both placed on [table] the ground but did not stand 2/3 of height of other & the walls were barely more than hardly half as thick; thinner, but in no other respect the least different.—
