May/58/ Though I saw so few slaves (of F. fusca) yet they swarm later in year. — F. Smith is sure about the big "Slave-makers coming out, when nest disturbed.—

F. Smith, found 3 4 nests of common wasp near each other: two observed dropped were deserted; a 3d diminished & F. Smith saw wasps carrying away larvæ & others arriving with larvæ in their jaws, & thus 4th nest became gigantic
