Nov. 54.

When we see in same class, water-shells different & land-shells similar on two sides of Alleghenies, with country so similar — when we see shells so different on each side of isthmus of Panama, with sea so similar,— we are impressed with idea of creation single on each side.— So in time, the number of genera descended from Silurian to present times, shows no great difference, yet same species not reappeared.
