"Haec passim lacus continet, non magnos quidem, sed carassiis piscibus abundantes, quum ante tredecim hos annos iter per ipsum illum tractum, vbi iam palus est, ex relatione incolarum commodissime fieri potuerit. Lacus denique recens exortos ferunt initio per aliquot annos piscibus caruisse, quibus nunc abundant."

They relate lastly that lakes recently risen, in the beginning for some years were without Fish, with which they now abound. (N.B. Fish absent for some years argument against underground channels)

"Ut hoc phaenomenon insulae explicent, no illi lateres excogitant subterraneas, per quas pisces ex lacu in lacum se proripere possint, sed confidenter adfirment, margos atque . aviates ova piscium in intulissa, ex quibus prolas parallatim succrevint.—
