From greater size of workshops continental products will always tend to beat insular, & as in every area there are many forms, more or less rare, tending to extinction, I shd certainly expect in islands that a very large proportion of rare forms would be insular in their origin— The older forms will have spread widest norther the same archipelago or to nearest isld & near land — hence many of the widest distributed forms would be rarest. An island with parent form immigration & completion, hence never very old form will be preserved then on continent, hence from America & extra-European forms
