Jan 14 57. Zoolog. Gardens

Gave grits (Glyceria) to Gold Fish, Gudgeons, & Minnow & they took them greedily & did not spit them out. Especially Gudgeon, one ate 3 or 4 seeds. The minnows often spit them out, & ate them again, but they were too large for any except largest minnows to swallow— I am not sure whether Dace ate them or not.
