p 280 Bear or Cherie isld about 10 miles long, composed of secondary rocks, principally sandstone & Limestone (& Coal believed to exist there)— lies 280 miles due N. of N. Cape. (∴ oceanic isld) & not volcanic

p 309 on shores of Spitzbergen much drift timber brought by Gulf-stream.—
