With respect to what Lyell has said of Hawks killing graminiverous birds & so disseminating seeds – it at first appears impossible – but when we reflect so many 100 species of hawks in world - & so numerous in individuals in many countries & that each probably kills a bird & that most graminiverous birds have fresh seeds in stomach - one at once perceive even such an agency with in the course of century not insignificant.
